The Transdarastic Echocardiogram and the Left Ventricular Function

The right ventricle and the right atrium both appeared severely dilated with evidence of RV systolic dysfunction. This is something that we often see in patients who have longstanding pulmonary hypertension or a right sided system exposed to high pressures. The absence of RV movement by Doppler is supportive of our suspicion that there has been long standing damage to the RV causing it to dilate, not move as well as it should.
