The Benefits of Confession

The seal of confession is simply the practice of the church that anything divulged by a penitent in the confessional is kept absolutely confidential and secret. It's good for society that there is a place, a kind of tribunal, a sacred tribunal where every man, woman and child can go and reconcile themselves to God. But it doesn't mean that one has to violate the sacrament of confession to do so.
