The five stages of grief are not an accurate picture of how people grieve, says author. Research suggests that yearning declines and that tance increases over time. At anniversaries or at the holidays, people tend to have a resurgence of grief. But this doesn't mean their grieving trajectory isn't still going in the right direction.
