The Brahma Vaharas: An Antidote to This Cleaning Attachment to a Belief in Self
Brahma Vaharas or divine states are my tree or friendliness, Karuna or care often translated as compassion. I think that when we take those four together, they constitute a vision of the moral landscape that is antithetical to that we get in moral egoism. When we do that, we see that our sources of happiness aren't just our own achievements, but also those to whom were related. That allows us a much greater scope for joy, for happiness and concern.
