Dave Eshelman took on the role of prison boss in Coolhand Luke. He did a fake Southern accent and everything to play John Wayne's character. "I literally acted this part as well as I could," said Eshelman, who says he didn't get off on being sadistic. The findings of the Stanford Prison Experiment say that if you take some people and make them guards, they turn evil.
