Contraception is highly litigious, especially in the US. Pharmaceuticals companies typically spend about 20% of their sales revenue and R&D on new products. But with contraception, that figure is just 2%. Most pharmaceutical efforts have been focused on line extensions of existing products. We need more collaboration between researchers, tech companies and pharma.
