Diocletian's Diocese

Diocletian created a whole new bureaucratic level to help manage macero policy. The hundred odd provinces were collected into just 12 of these new diocese. A diocese could be made up by as few as four provinces, as in the case of britain,. As many as 16, which encompassed the whole of the eastern mediterranean. Their main function was to help enforce policy that was being handed down by the emperor and help oversea policy on the local level.
