The History of Taiwan

Taiwan's history is almost always framed within the context of whatever's happened since 1949. How could these most ancient Austronesian people living on Taiwan so many thousands of years ago have ever imagined their island home in 2023? The Dutch had the right idea 400 years ago in 1623 when they tried in vain to make that place their own such a plum location. It was my intention in producing this series to offer a panoramic view of Taiwan's history and prehistory. There were nine episodes that dealt with pre-1949 and over these past 6 episodes we've looked at a number of milestone events in Taiwan that took us up to the present day.
