The Power of Actively Going Into Your Memory
The principle of desirable difficulty holds very, very true in terms of making learning deeper and more durable. When you exert more fort to remember something, then it will be stored more permanently in your long time memory. So that simple act, as you said, of sitting pausing when once you've listened to something, and then going into your mental construct is extremely powerful. And i think i can see how it's much more creative and imaginative, which often leads to a better learning process as well.
