I've Always Just Rejected the Concept of a Hit
There was one time when columbia wanted me to make a song a single. And of course, i didnt do shit. Which was the song? It was the song of that year from my album, give up the ghost. They wanted that to be a single. I felt like it was exploitive. You know, it was about suicide of my friend. So i fought really hard to suppress spot lighting that songt seems reasonable. Maybe maybe it is reasonable. But i don't think it's ever a good idea to not follow genuine passion. The people that loved that song just genuinely loved it.
