John's New Commandment

John wrote later. Scholars estimate that he wrote about 60 or 70 years after the death and resurrection of jesus. At this point, he's an old man. He's the lastlive in of the 12. And that's important because it means that when john sat down to write his gospel, he was already familiar with the other three that were circulating. They all can be understood kind of like a eye witness news reports written from different perspectives. But john's gospel is a bit more thoughtful oped piece thi'd written after a little bit of time to ruminate on these events and what they might mean in the world.
