The potential harms must be taken into account before something is built so that you still have time to ask those key questions like, is the AI that we're building the right tool for this job and in what context should it be used? Yes, exactly. And a perfect illustration of that currently for me is face recognition technology, where not only are there all kinds of biases, they're really scary things happening.
