The Impartial Civil Service and the Government of the Day
If there's a new government in tears, time or whatever, presumably your work just carries on. It will because the Government of the day will have new priorities. As they come into power, we'll be discussing their new priorities with them. And it's perfectly possible that they will be repealing some of the legislation that the current administration has brought to pass. If there's not a change of government, there still might be a change in make-up of government and priorities might shift according to the time. So the continuity of the impartial civil service is, for me, one of the great constitutional safeguards.
