How to Cope With a Flash Crash in the Stock Market?

The one place you never see a flash crash is at 9.30 in the morning or 4 PM. Those are the only two times over the course of the trading day where you can trade in quantity. Between 9.30 and 4, you have this thing called continuous trading. All of these orders hit the stock market and prices went haywire because the standard way that the stock market works on a millisecond to millisecond basis just cannot cope with that kind of volume. What we want is a stock market that can cope with volume.
