Not everyone who lived within this Gothic world was a Goth. There were Iranian-speaking summations, Latin-speaking dacians and many other groups besides. The rich were getting richer, and the powerful were becoming more powerful. To be a Goth was probably to be one of these powerful people; power rested on military force.
