The Different Audiences of a Preacher
I believe in what Dr King called the beloved community. My church is predominantly African American, although we have white members and in recent years since my election we have even more. I'd like to see my church be more diverse. So I've been trying to talk to people for a long time about a range of subject matters from health care to voting rights to mass incarceration. And I've been framing them within the context of my faith. While I am a Christian, I believe in our democracy,. I believe in the separation of church and state.
