The James Webb telescope will look back in time to the big bang. The instrument has to be kept at a very low temperature, so itso glow doesn't interfere and don't swamp its detectors. Webb's operating temperature is a chilly seven degrees above absolute zero. That is minus 400 and forty seven degrees fahrenheit.
