Lockdowns Are Getting More Common

I feel like on Mercer Island we have an illusion of complete safety because we're pretty isolated and the community is quite small. I think when I found out that there was a shooting across the bridge I wasn't shocked. It made me realize that it is possible. There are people who can do that and who will do that. And it's becoming increasingly more common. So you see them in the news every week but it kind of shocked me because I recognize where it was and how close we are to it. Even just today we had a lockdown drill and nobody really takes them seriously because we all kind of realize the absurdity of what we are trying to do to protect ourselves.
