Dostoevsky offers a counter to what we could think of as the overman. He says active love and total responsibility for all your fellow man is important. We are in nihilism and we can't do anything to get out of it as a society, he writes. The book ends with Raskolnikov falling back into his faith but not spoken of quite as much as the body does.
