The History of the FBI

Bureau of Investigation was controversial from the beginning in 1908. Opponents argued that a federal police force could be easily corrupted. By 1919 Attorney General Mitchell Palmer had big plans for the bureau. He enlisted a brilliant but inexperienced 24-year-old Justice Department lawyer to lead the fight against anarchists. His name was Edgar Hoover Young Edgar Hoover grew up only blocked from the US Capitol and lived with his mother until she died when he was 43 years old.
