The Cost of the Hundred Years' War
The battle of Touton was the bloodiest ever fought on English soil. According to one estimate, 20,000 men were dead. The occupants of the mass grave at Touton had all been drawn there by social and monetary ties. To live in this society required service, and they served all the way to death.
