The Difference Between Customs and Traditions
Invented tradition is everything symbolic that goes along with their role and how they perform it. Tradition is, as an example, the symbols of the wig, the robe and other formal paraphernalia. Conformity or routine has no significant ritual or symbolic function as such. More traditions are in ted in times of rapid social change. We should expect it to occur more frequently when a rapid transformation weakens society. The most important narrative that we tell informs, not even the past, it informs the present.
