The Open Source Movement in the Late 80s and 90s

The Berkeley version of Unix started with that licensed code. It gradually picked up its own code contributions, notably from people like Bill Joy. Eventually it was able to become completely free of an AT&T code. And then not something that I guess the open source movement might have started when Richard Stalman started to think about this in the late 80s.
