Last year we spent about $190 billion on home order tax subsidies. Most of that was accrued by families with six figure incomes. The mortgage interest reduction doesn't do anything to help people get into homeownership. It just makes homes more valuable than they should be. And in part because it's massively government subsidized. That's how we do more to guard fortunes than fight poverty.
