Photographs used to be seen as evidence of the truth, but now we can read subjectivity a lot more. There's always a reason that every photograph is taken, or certainly every photograph is published. It depends what's going on in the world at the time. But i think now we also understand that those reasons often be propaganda, or even, in the case of syria, that has been staged.
