Everyone learns about the Milgram experiment in psychology courses because it's so fascinating that you could get people, just normal people to agree to shock someone who they didn't know if they were told by an authority figure. I think everyone agrees that that's valuable information to know as a society, yet there's no way that that would pass an institutional review board now. It pushes things that used to be the domain of social science into the domain of reality TV or journalism.
