The Red Roses That Made Me Sick
Jackie had to convince them to let her see his body after he was pronounced dead. She put her wedding ring on his little finger and kissed him, then waited outside the room while a funeral home got him into a coffin for the trip back. As she left the hospital, one of the doctors had taken a couple of red roses for her out of the trash that had his blood on them That made me feel upset. I do not know if it was Jackie or if it was a more astute political mind prevailing but her presence was somehow necessary. It made it better.
