The Wanda Beach Murders

Alan Bassett was convicted of raping and murdering 20-year-old Carolyn Mae Orphan in Wullingong, Australia. Christine Sherock and Marianne Schmidt were murdered in the sand dunes of Wanda Beach in January of 1965. On one of Johnson's visits, Bassett gave him a painting that he had completed. It depicted a beach scene, or at least that's what Johnson saw. He would come to believe that the painting wasn't just a painting, but much more than that.
