The Origins of the Early Phoenician Communities
The Phoenician migrants looked for river mounds and seemed to have preferred to build on offshore islands. Gadyir, Gadyir followed this template with the earliest Phoenician settlement on the highest point of an island. Within a century, the framework for a long-lasting and durable Phoenician Mediterranean had come into being. It is remarkable how quickly this happened.
