I think so many people fall in the trap are spending all their time, for example, making the notes, and don't leave enough time later to actually memorize them. I often use the analogy that if you are doing something like making notes, which doesn't involve retrieval practice, that's like the equivalent of building a piece of jim equipment at home. It's not the training itself. Be making notes is just kind of building the machine that you'll later actually need to do some training on. Couldn't agree more absolutely.
