The Importance of Unifying the Universe

We're not just doing it to be annoying. One is that philosophically it makes a lot more sense to have a single theory of the universe. If you have multiple rules, then you got to sometimes wonder like, well, which rule applies? In the case of quantum mechanics and general relativity, they do have to agree on what happens inside a black hole.
