I was forced to use Go Deps to deploy something on pivotal web services. Even if I had one dependency and I just put it right in the vendor folder it would not actually compile and run my code without a Go Deps file. So this is kind of like how I forced Brian to use node one time. No I actually sent him an email and said report to my office you're fired. He still can't remember what it was. Do we have to remember? I think it was like Jason Lindt thing or some kind of tool like that. But he's been using go vendor, which seems to be kind of almost the same thing but uses the vendor folder that already exists
