The Impossibility of Passing a Constitutional Amendment

As it stands, the number of electors each state gets is equal to the total number of seats that that state has in the House of Representatives plus two for their senators. But like James Madison himself said that the framers who wrote the rules in the Constitution about the electoral college had written the rules under quote the hurrying influence produced by fatigue and impatience. So doing away with the electoral college altogether and just moving to a system of like a straight popular vote for president and vice president would have broad majority support even in Congress.
