The Importance of Balance in Life
Even the week before I was appointed CEO of PepsiCo, I didn't know I was going to be CEO. We were starting from zero. And so all that we focused on is how do we pay off our student loan? Because the fact that I had a student loan and I owed that money made me feel very uncomfortable. So any money we had, we first tried to pay as much as possible towards the student loan. Then we lived life for the rest of the money. It wasn't about clothes, it wasn't about having a good time. It was just about living life within our means.
