How to Make Loud Mixes

Waves has a plug in calls the Shep 73 and your Sheps released a waves emulation of the 1073 by Nevs by Nev. In that I turn on the clipping at the lowest level. So I'm distorting the signal. And what happens is most of the time with just that alone at minus 20 or the lowest level, you have eclipsed the top and adds harmonics. The snare will feel louder, but you look at the meter and the peak level is actually quieter. This is a way that a lot of mixers will save headroom will create headroom.
