The Origins of the Book of Enoch

The Book of Enoch was written and pieced together by multiple authors over a few centuries. Authors claimed to have received special revelation from the Patriarch Enoch who was shown heavenly secrets concerning the end of the age. The earliest portions display impressive parallels with the nascent thoughts of the Jewish sect which eventually settled at Qumran. Nothing we find in Enoch suggests a pre-exilic period or a culture from prior to that. So there is no reason to suggest it would date back thousands of years to the historical Enoch.
