How to Hire a Partner in a Startup

In a typical startup model, you basically have this terminal level, which is employee. Once you're hired, you take the step function in your own employee and that's it. And our model has a couple more steps. So we do this initial, do initial phone conversations or reviewing open source work. The basis of that will do a one to two week trial project. If that goes well, then we move into a longer contract where we're evaluating the person for the partnership.
