The Witch Hunt in l'Envanon

In 1591, authorities identify a witch from L'Envanon. And that's what happened then. There was a huge witch hunt. Probably nearly 10% of the adult female population are prosecuted and eventually either executed or die in custody. That must have had a hugely detrimental impact on somewhere the size of L'envanon. It left a longer shadow as well because there would have been women in the village who would have been associated by reputation or relationship to the women who were executed.
