The History of the Fortran Compiler

The first compilers were for Fortran and then Cobol, written around 1958. IBM was much involved with the idea of formula translation to translate mathematical formulas into machine code operations. The thing that is sort of shocking is that some of the operations like loops and so on didn't change from then until now.
