Are You Forgiving Someone Who Cheats?
How do you reconcile with yourself if I genuinely am able to get over this and it doesn't actually affect me? Or am I denying my actual thoughts and needs because of childhood trauma or whatever I've been through? Good question. Look, when you start this, in our experience as therapists, the vast majority of people who have cheated are not chronic filanderers. They're not constant cheaters. No, they're people who often have been two, five, fifteen years, twenty years together in a relationship and one day they cross a line that they never thought they would cross. The cheating is one feature of their personality and their behavior.
