The Politics of Embroidery
The making of embroidery has changed radically over the last few decades. Most women will now embroider as part of an NGO that do have, I think, problematic structures so that they often claim to empower the women who are working for them. Material power, Palestinian embroidery is at Catles Yard and Cambridge until the end of October. And then you'll be able to see the exhibition in Manchester, the Whitworth Gallery from the end of November until April.
