The Paranoia of Pierce
Pinchon: I think the two kind of the bigger themes that popped out in this chapter for me were, as Luke was saying, the narcissism of specifically Pierce. Miles assuming that Edipa is trying to get with him also implies a certain amount of narcissism on Miles's part. And Metzger also seems to kind of, even just like showing up with showing up at a hotel room with liquor seems to imply a fair amount of presumption on Metzger's part.
