I like to think of practice as a workshop. I go in, I have my tools, I shuffle about, and I play with things. People give you their time. For me, it's not inspiration either. I'm just interested in uncovering what I can. In music, we often, in classical music, you often use the word rehearsal to describe what is done. So if my string quartet gets together, we would say we have a rehearsal before the concert. And that's a really lousy word because it implies that you already know what you're doing.
