One of the things that they were compelled to do was to dig a massive hole and pour all their seed grain into it with the idea that in this small little area that was just going to explode with our rich crop. They would do things like break apart clay pots and work them into the soil because when you would have new clay pots or new clay, if you break it down into like shards and like powder, this is something that will actually provide nutrients to the soil. So that fact was put everywhere within the Soviet Union and is one of the contributing things that would lead to mass starvation because of overseeding.
