The Role of Gravity in the Universe

The strong and weak nuclear forces have very short range. If matter were not neutral, you would never notice gravity in its presence. Matter does not like staying separately charged. It will do all it can to recombine negative charges with positive charges. Do you realize you could take the electrons out of one cubic centimeter of the nose cone of the space shuttle? Because it's the attractive force of those negative and positive charges that overwhelm the strength of those rocket engines.
