What's the Difference Between Interpretation and Criticism?
Dylan: I think she would be sympathetic down to what you're saying, that it's a how, as opposed to a what. But with respect to thinking about different ways of framing an interaction with a work of art, as it were. So she's characterizing interpretation as being a way of dealing with art from the framework of meaning. Then she's kind of proposing something that she's calling criticism - which is a different engagement art where you're not engaging with it from the perspective of trying to reframe it or describe it and explain it.
