Avonmouth, England - The Landing Choice
The sons of Harold Godwinson and their Irish fleet landed at Avonmouth. This inlet placed them very close to the town of Bristol, and only about 35 miles from Gloucester. All in all, it was a strong landing choice. And as Godwin, his brothers, and their supporters disembarked from their ships they saw armed men gathering nearby.
