Nine of the nine intervention studies covering this theme show that strength-based practice reduced social anxiety alleviated stress and increased well-being. The authors noted the increase use of non-abless language or neutral terminologies, which describes strength without purporting a negative connotation. Occupational therapy practitioners' unique skills in delivering evidence-based mental health interventions is not used optimally in the current OT practice environment. Strength-based practice could help these practitioners better meet the mental health needs of the autistic community.
