Is There Any Evidence That the CPC Might Change Policies?
Holding on to the COVID-0 policy is very very expensive. The last two years China was doing quite okay in 2020 and 2021 so they had a little bit of fiscal room until 2023. But vaccine take up has been relatively low in China. Why not mandate vaccine take up and open the economy as opposed to allowing people choose on vaccinations but having rolling lockdowns?
