The Circle of Honor
Frida Ghitis: Ours is a culture of contempt. She says it's the feeling that people are beneath consideration, worthless or deserving of scorn. When we show contempt, she says, we lower other person's value and raise our own. Ghitis: We're far more likely to end up on the receiving end of sarcasm or a cynical put down.
